Research: GEMCARGuidelines for Electro-Magnetic Compatibility Modelling for Automotive RequirementsOverviewThis 3 year project was funded under the EU FP5 Program and the Swiss Federal Office for Education and Science. The project consortium included 9 partners from the EU and Switzerland. Further information can be found at www.gemcar.org. Start date: January 2000 ObjectivesAutomotive EMC engineering has traditionally been a largely experimental activity. However, it is considered that the adoption of numerical modelling techniques will provide a more cost effective approach to meet future requirements. The aim of the GEMCAR project was to develop a comprehensive set of guidelines to support the practical deployment of electromagnetic modeling techniques in automotive applications, based on detailed validation of models of real vehicles. Our roleMIRA acted as the project coordinator and edited the guidelines, as well as undertaking numerical electromagnetic modelling of vehicles and providing the associated validation measurements.
