Services : Certification and Homologation

MIRA provides a wide range of European certification and homologation services for automotive and non-automotive products, as well as conducting tests which are accepted for national approvals in many countries worldwide.

European

European Community legislation mandates that all products offered for sale in Europe must comply with the Member State's requirements defined by a number of European directives.

MIRA provides Automotive Type Approval services for approval to automotive legislation ("e" marking) and also Certification services for industry-relevant CE marking directives.

Off-highway and other vehicles that are outside of automotive type approval are approved under the relevant CE marking directives.

European Whole Vehicle Type Approval

Type approval is a formal process that in general requires third party testing by a recognised Technical Service and approval by a Type Approval Body.  In Europe, before a vehicle can gain 'Whole Vehicle Type Approval' it must first be approved to the appropriate separate technical directives.  For an M1 class vehicle (such as a passenger car) the chart below details the subjects which can be applied:

European Whole Vehicle Type Approval: Buses and Coaches

Within Europe the bus and coach industry is awaiting the implementation of a new framework directive that will have direct consequence for buses and coaches. Currently each Member State has their own set of National requirements and with the arrival of the new Directive, there will be a harmonisation of the European market.

Certification and Homologation

For final type approval testing, MIRA Certification and Homologation, an independent section of MIRA Ltd, can offers project management of the homologation process at any stage be it in terms of liaison with the appropriate Type Approval Body (for example VCA, RDW, KBA), organising the testing, formulating the paperwork and preparing the final certification documentation for either whole vehicles or component level.
