Two-way technology transfer
Pretty much since the Wright brother's first flight in December 1903 the automotive industry has gained a lot from innovations developed in aerospace. From light-weight materials, aerodynamics, pneumatic tyres, through to x-by-wire systems it's fair to say that the technology transfer has been mainly in this direction. However with the rapid pace of developments in the automotive industry particularly in control systems and software integrity this is starting to change.
Examples of MIRA being at the forefront of introducing aerospace innovations into the automotive industry include opening Europe's first dedicated automotive wind tunnel. Similarly MIRA is at the forefront of delivering automotive technology back into aerospace.
