With the current trend toward SUV's and off-road vehicles with high centres of mass, the automotive industry is focusing on the need to protect occupants during vehicle roll overs. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the US has been researching the extent of the problem and has developed a test procedure to evalutate the level of protection for vehicle occupants.
